There’s nothing worse than feeling fatigue, low energy and tired. We all live such busy lives, and it’s only normal to sometimes feel a little drained.
Thankfully, there are some great natural ways to start boosting energy levels the right way.
I’m going to explain my top 5 methods below for boosting your energy levels naturally & staying in control of your lifestyle & ultimately your body composition goals.
1# Utilize Caffeine
It’s what most pre-workout supplements are packed with, so why wouldn’t you expect an energy lift? I personally prefer taking caffeine supplementation without the all additives which you normally find in flavoured pre-workout supplements. Even a strong coffee will give you the energy needed, & most marketed pre-workout brands are expensive!
I would recommend starting with green coffee bean powder at 100-200mg either before training or when you need energy! Coffee beans contain a chemical called chlorogenic acid, which research suggests may have health benefits, including lowering blood pressure and reducing inflammation.
2# Stay Hydrated
And i’m not talking about expensive sports drinks, staying hydrated from water alone will help boost energy levels naturally. When you’re not consuming enough water throughout the day, you’re body will show signs of fatigue quite quickly.
If you find it hard to remember to drink water, I always recommend my clients to use a non-toxic daily water bottle, which can carried with you to work or the gym.
3# Sleep Less
Yep, that wasn’t a typo – sleep less! Research has shown that getting too much sleep can actually cause fatigue & lower energy levels. When you have your recommended hours sleep, you will find it easier to have a pattern of falling asleep. Some other keep steps for having a better sleep:
- Avoid napping too often during the day
- Have a sleeping schedule (as best you can)
- Identify how much sleep you’re actually getting each day
4# Start Lifting Weights
If you’re read some of my posts or seen my 90 day fitness model challenge, you will know i’m a huge advocate for resistance training. Exercise in general will improve your energy levels drastically.
Exercise causes your body to release epinephrine and norepinephrine, stress hormones that in modest amounts can make you feel energized. Even increasing walking throughout the day will have a positive impact.
5# Control Your Emotions
Working on controlling your emotions & building emotional intelligence has a very significant impact on energy levels. Putting too much mental energy into the wrong areas of your life, which don’t help you in a positive way can bring on fatigue without warning.
Something which has helped me control my emotions & really understand emotional intelligence was when I started reading Thinking, Fast & Slow by Daniel Kahneman. This book can really change your life, it’s an incredible in-depth look into why we react the way we do.
